apparat/us(아파랏/어스)는 미술, 연극, 영화, 무용을 비롯한 다양한 분야가 교차하는 유연한 접점을 탐색하는 프로덕션 이니셔티브입니다. 유기적이고 지속가능한 방식의 제작 환경을 다져나가는 데 관심을 두고 기획, 제작, 협력 등 다양한 방식을 통해 학제적 접근에 동행하며, 서울을 기반으로 지역의 경계를 넘어 활동합니다.

apparat/us는 제작 과정 중심의 접근에 초점을 맞추어 예술의 확장된 가능성과 사회적 역할을 탐색합니다. 예술이 무엇을 하고 또 될 수 있는지 질문하며 다양한 매체와 분야를 아우르는 학제적 연구와 예술적 실천을 제안합니다. 장기적인 대화와 협업을 통해 서로에게서 배우고 기존의 지식과 감각을 갱신하는 과정을 apparat/us는 ‘프로덕션’이라고 부릅니다. 개별 작품에 어울리는 제작 시스템을 구성하거나 우회하면서 예술을 작동하게 하는 장치들을 살피고, 동시대의 역동에 반응하는 한편 지속가능한 공동의 지반을 만드는 하우스로 자리하고자 합니다.

apparat/us is an artistic production initiative that explores flexible intersections of disciplines including visual art, theatre, cinema and dance. With its interest in strengthening an organic and sustainable ecosystem for production, it advocates an interdisciplinary approach through different ways such as conception, production and collaboration. While based in Seoul, its activities encompass different regions.

apparat/us, with its process-driven approach, explores the expansive possibility and social role of art. Asking what art can do and be, it proposes interdisciplinary research and artistic practice across different mediums and disciplines. For apparat/us, ‘production’ implies the process of long-term dialogue and collaboration to learn from one another and refresh one’s previous knowledge and sensibilities. It aims to examine the apparatuses that power art by organizing a production system suitable for individual works or diverting one, and to establish itself as a house that generates a sustainable and shared ground while responding to the dynamic conditions of our time.

apparat/us is a toolbox that materializes ideas of creation and production. It accompanies artistic processes searching for new directions.

interact/us
apparat/us seeks mutual learning through a process-driven approach that involves dialogue and collaboration.

engage/us
apparat/us asks what art can do and be and engages in generating a ground of artistic dialogue and practice that explores a range of social and pedagogical roles and possibilities.

adventure/us
apparat/us explores expansive possibilities of performing arts, dealing with both the old questions and radical approaches in and outside of black box.

distribute/us
apparat/us engages in joint adventures in order to set up diverse routes and models of circulation across the entire process of research, conception, development, production, presentation and tour for mid- and long-term projects for which production and distribution cannot be separated.

connect/us
apparat/us connects Korean and international artists, producers, makers, thinkers, and practitioners from across the disciplines and uses trans-local networks to cooperate and co-produce with individuals and organizations in Asia and beyond.
